In this study, we hypothesized that drug effects may be expressed differently depending on vigilance states (VS) during recording sessions. We used automatic state-detection (Machine Learning approach) as a tool to estimate VS-specific effects of drugs. We evaluated the usefulness of this method in wild-type C57BL/6J mice with a study assessing the dose-dependency of antidepressants with distinct mechanisms of action: fluoxetine and maprotiline.
